Bruxism (teeth grinding) is a common disorder that presents as involuntary, excessive jaw clenching during sleep. Occasional bouts of teeth grinding don’t usually affect health or cause much discomfort. But when it happens more regularly, it can cause significant complications, notably jaw and tooth damage. The most common symptoms include:

  • jaw cracking
  • sensitive teeth (especially in the morning)
  • tight jaw
  • mouth blocks when opening
  • earaches
  • headaches or fatigue upon waking

Did you know that you can effectively reduce teeth grinding by injecting BotoxTM (botulinum toxin) into the masseter muscles (mastication muscles)? Did you also know that some private insurance companies cover botulinum toxin (Botox) injections to treat bruxism?

Call now to make an appointment with Dr. Blackburn. She will let you know whether Botox (botulinum toxin) is the right treatment for you.
